Basic formula for trading in stock market used by Warren Buffet

This formula was given by Benjamin Graham.
You might wonder who Benjamin Graham is. He's the man who taught Warren Buffet, the richest man in the world who earned a lot of his wealth from stock markets around the world.

The formula is: Value= EPS (8.5+2g), where

Value = Value of the stock in rupees (if you are investing in India)
EPS = Earnings Per share in rupees (if you are investing in India)
g = Growth rate in per cent

For instance, assume that a stock like TCS' value as of today is Rs 1,240 and its EPS is Rs 57.65. Now, these two figures can help us arrive at a growth rate in terms of percentage at which the company's profits need to grow to sustain a price of Rs 1,240.
Let us calculate 'g' for TCS by substituting the assumed values in Graham's formula.
1,240 = 57.65 * (8.5 + 2*g)
Therefore, 1,240/57.65 = 8.5 + 2*g
Therefore, 21.5 = 8.5 + 2*g
Therefore, 21.5 8.5 = 2*g
Therefore, 13 = 2*g
Therefore, g = 13/2
Therefore, g = 6.5.

Suppose that,Tata Steel needs to grow by a mere 0.2 per cent for next 7-10 years to sustain it's price.
Do you think a huge company like Tata Steel will grow only at a mere 0.2 per cent? Of course not. It is a promising company with a sound management that can propel the company to much higher growth rate than 0.2 per cent.
Normally, a company that is expected to clock higher growth rates than 'g' is considered as a good buy. But this should not be your only tool to identify a stock could increase in value in the future.

What irritates me about Google Docs

Google Docs is great. It is typical Google-easy, clean and free. You can share your documents with your friends. Publish them on your blog or website. It is searchable using Google. Everything is great, except that Google thinks that the users want everything that they click on to open in a new tab or window. I just landed up opening 7 tabs. I hope Google Docs removes the new window tag in the links.

Google will be expiring some older pagerank penalities

Google’s Matt Cutts announced that a new Google Toolbar PageRank update is on the way and will be visible over the next few days. Google will be expiring some older pagerank penalities on websites. This will create a flutter in the web world especially the blogosphere. It will be interesting to see who gains and who loses pagerank.

I hope I regain my own.

Google Wikipedia rival Knol is live

Google's Wikipedia competitor, Knol, was opened to the public on Wednesday morning.

So-called knols are articles about specific topics written by experts on that subject.

Google is partnering with The New Yorker magazine to allow any author to add a cartoon from the magazine to their knol. Knol authors can run ads with them, as well, and receive a cut of the revenue from Google.

What makes Knol different from Wikipedia is that every knol will have an author, or group of authors, whose name is prominent.

Google wants to rank entries by popularity to encourage competition. For example, the first knol on "Type 1 Diabetes" is by Anne Peters, director of the University of Southern California's Clinical Diabetes Programs.

As other writers publish on diabetes, Google plans to rank related pages according to user ratings, reviews and how often people refer to specific pages, DuPont said.

Knol focuses on individual authors or groups of authors in contrast to Wikipedia's subject entries, which are updated by users and edited behind the scenes.

Google PageRank Patent May Go

New criteria for restricting the scope of what the US Patent Office considers patent-worthy poses a threat to numerous software patents, including Google's famed PageRank.

Google climbed past a morass of ineffective search engines when it arrived on the Internet. Its devotion to the most relevant possible solution for a given query quickly made it the de facto search choice as millions of people shifted their browsing habits from walled garden content to the broader World Wide Web.

The essential and much-discussed PageRank technology holds a patent, a common legal protection sought by software developers small and large. Some have claimed software patents affect far too broad a scope of potential innovation, leading to lawsuits where a patent owner claims damages by multiple companies.

Those on the losing end of such suits end up paying for what they argue are obvious and non-original concepts. That could change with a shift in the way the USPTO looks at software patents, the Patently-O blog on patent law said.

A series of cases may remake the software industry, all the way to the top where Google and other companies reside:

In the most recent of these three (cases)—the currently pending en banc Bilski appeal—the Office takes the position that process inventions generally are unpatentable unless they "result in a physical transformation of an article" or are "tied to a particular machine."

Patently-O sees Google's PageRank, the patent for which is owned by Stanford University, as failing the first part of the test, as generating scores isn't a physical transformation. The second part proves troubling given recent decisions made by the USPTO in a couple of other cases, not only for PageRank but other Google patents too.

"Google might have thought that the patent system would surely protect new technological developments that are highly creative and socially valuable. The PTO’s new position proves that view mistaken," Patently-O said.

England unhappy with India venues,again

Like the last time England visited India, ECB are unhappy at the grounds chosen to host matches on the tour of India later in the year.

Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai and Mohali have all been excluded from the winter schedule that includes two Tests and seven one-day internationals.
A statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board said: "Fans will not experience the great grounds of India."

BCCI does not much care about English visitors as  Cricket is a religion in India and so filling up the stadium is not a big issue and it does not much cares about economy which will receive a boost if the English come in large numbers.

BCCI might be saving the big venues for the glamorous teams like Australia and Pakistan.

Tour dates:
Nov 6: England arrive in Mumbai
Nov 9: One-day warm-up match in Mumbai
Nov 11: One-day warm-up match in Mumbai
Nov 14: 1st One-day international, Rajkot
Nov 17: 2nd One-day international, Indore
Nov 20: 3rd One-day international, Kanpur
Nov 23: 4th One-day international, Jamshedpur
Nov 26: 5th One-day international, Cuttack
Nov 29: 6th One-day international, Guwahati
Dec 2: 7th One-day international, Delhi
Dec 5: Three-day warm-up match, Baroda
Dec 11: First Test, Ahmedabad
Dec 19: Second Test, Mumbai

Dhoni in touching distance of no.1 spot

Indian One-day captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is within touching distance of regaining the top spot in the ICC ODI Player Rankings after his consistent show with the bat in the just-concluded Asia Cup helped him jump two spots in the chart.

Dhoni was last at the head of affairs among the world's top ODI batsmen for one week in April 2006 and now he has only South Africa's Graeme Smith ahead of him.

Dhoni moved up two places in the rankings as a result of his 327 runs during the tournament. He was dismissed just twice in five innings and had a strike-rate of 91 runs per 100 balls.

Dhoni's gain, meanwhile, is Sachin Tendulkar's loss as the little master, who missed the tournament, drops four places to number six in the listings.

Both Andrew Symonds and Kumar Sangakkara climbed up four spots with the Australian in ninth position and the Sri Lankan a place further back.

When to remove timestamps; when to keep them

Timestamps helps your readers to know when the post was writen. But some times it is not necessary. For example, if your blog is about tips and tricks then timestamp is irrelevant. You must follow Google's policy of keeping only the necessary things on your page.

However, if your blog is event based then timestamp is a must.

I got this email from Adsense:

Thank you for your interest in Google AdSense. While reviewing your

disabled for invalid click activity. Because we strive to protect the
interests of both our advertisers and our other AdSense publishers,
we're unable to approve your application.

In addition, please note that you will not be eligible to participate
in the AdSense program in the future. We realize the inconvenience this

To which I replied (everything is true):

I have been informed that I have not been approved for adsense account because "it is closely related to an account disabled for invalid click activity"

I think that account was that of my uncle who was staying with us, but, now has moved out.

I had myself signed up for adsense, but, later I realised that it was necessary to be 18 years of age , I emailed you and had my account disabled. I don't remember the email ID maybe this  one or withheld@yahoo.co.in. You can check your logs.

I am, currently, monetizing my site through adsense in my mother's name. And that account is being operated in good way with NO invalid clicks, etc. Now that I have turned 18 I want to start adsense account in my name, AGAIN.

In the link you have sent me in email https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=57153&hl=en_US you mention that "If we determine that a related publisher's account may pose a risk to our AdWords advertisers, we may disable it in order to protect our advertisers' interests. "

As I have stated above I have and will not do anything to pose threat to your advertisers . My actions shows that I am following your Program Policies.

Hoping that you will reconsider your decision.

Can you please help me. email me(displayed on my Blogger profile page) or comment me..

Nike Total 90 Omni ball introduced

Nike's red and white Total 90 Omni is the official Barclays Premier League match ball for the 2008/09 season.
Barclays Premiere League official website has announced.

The ball has been engineered to set new performance standards for consistency, accuracy and visibility, having been tested and proven over two years - in computer simulations, in Nike research labs, and with some of the world's biggest clubs and best players. Its new, innovative panel geometry is designed to give players consistent response and touch wherever they strike the ball. Engineered hexagons and pentagons fit precisely together to create a nearly perfect sphere.

fly faster

It is more predictable and more powerful wherever it is hit. Significantly, players say it gives them added confidence when they approach the ball.
Nike's answer to shots and passes that drift off their intended mark is an exclusive, aerodynamic micro-grooved PU casing. It was developed in the wind tunnel, and designed to fly faster and truer to the target.
To help players make better split-second judgments, Nike introduced performance graphics and colour to the game in the original Total 90 Ball. The new ball takes the idea to the next level. A new, red asymmetrical band encircling the ball generates a more powerful visual signal as it rotates, providing a quicker read on ball location, spin rate, speed and trajectory from any angle. It is designed to help players make better decisions at top-speed, when the pressure is on.

BCCI gags cricket coach Gary Kirsten

India's cricket board has told coach Gary Kirsten not to comment on the team on his personal Web site.

Kirsten cannot write post-match comments or columns as per BCCI's policy. Only the team captains are allowed to write newspaper or Web site columns.

On the site (www.garykirsten.com), the South African, who took over in March, said there was a need to introduce a rotation policy, adding that one-day captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was in need of rest.

Manchester City in spending spree are still hopeful over Ronaldinho

BBC has reported that Man City are still in the race to get Ronaldinho.

Manchester City executive chairman Garry Cook remains confident they can convince Brazilian star Ronaldinho to sign for the club.
The 28-year-old is set to leave Barcelona and City have been in talks with Ronaldinho's representatives about bringing him to Eastlands.
Ronaldinho, who struggled with form and fitness problems last season, has also been linked with a move to AC Milan and Chelsea, but Cook said City are genuine contenders in the race to capture one of the game's biggest names.
Brazilian striker Jo joined Manchester City from CSKA Moscow on Wednesday for what the English Premier League side said was a "club record" undisclosed fee.
The 21-year-old forward, capped once by Brazil, signed a four-year contract and in the process became Mark Hughes's first major signing at Eastlands since he replaced Sven-Goran Eriksson as City manager.
Jo, full name Joao Alves de Assis Silva, is a left-footed forward who joined several fellow Brazilians at CSKA in 2006 when he moved from Corinthians.
It had been reported that City expected to pay around 19 million pounds (38 million dollars) for the striker, who scored 44 goals in 77 matches for the Russian club. The club are keen to pair him with the former World Player of the Year.

Same old story

Incessant rains lashed Mumbai from Monday night to Tuesday morning throwing the city out of gears and this is just the beginning of June. This has been the norm for past 4-5 years every monsoons. The trains were stopped and the road traffic was crawling. More rains are expected in next 24hours.
And God help us as heavy showers pour in Mumbai in the month of July .
