How to open ODF files with Microsoft word

Open Document Format (ODF) is an open standard file format OpenOffice.org and others use. You may have come across file extensions like .odt(text), .ods(spreadsheets)and .odp(presentation).

Microsoft Office,by default, does not recognise these file formats. You can open these files by installing a plugin from Sun Microsystem.

Users of Office 2003, simply download and install the Sun ODF plugin.

Users 0f office 2007 need to first install SP1 for MS office 2007, install the plugin. Then open ODT file by choosing open with word.

There are online converters like Zamzar and Media Convert. You can also upload and collaborate online using Google Docs, Zoho Writer, etc
